To Keys World,
I am an old-school anomaly with audacious dreams.
In my world, I talk about it all. The good, bad and in between. I use the truth & music to vent, learn, express and heal.

I started off as an oratorical speaker, reciting poems and competing in competitions. I began playing piano at age six but I feel like music was with me from the very start. My journey consisted of learning about & meeting some truly amazing people. My first piano instructor was Jimmy Kay Kendrick who was a blind musician/my neighbor; Working with him I felt I had permission to learn with gentleness.
There is so much beauty and pain to my story.
35KEYS
I grew up working on my craft and vibes and eventually gave myself permission to create, sing and perform my own songs. Some know me as 35Keys and have mainly associated me with the piano but I have ALWAYS wanted to sing.
I love music so much and I love learning from it...
So now
the musician, singer, artist, songwriter, storyteller and OUR reality is here to stay.
"We Ain't Gotta Hide It"
My name is Kalayah S. Grant, but to many, I’m known as '35Keys. Normally, I would say that I am an artist, musician, singer, songwriter, rapper, model, producer, and poet, born and raised in Miami, Florida—but I’m all of that and so much more. I’m currently navigating a major stage of unbecoming, learning, and self-discovery, and I want to share that journey. I created this personal series to discuss the topics that matter most to me and my community. I’ll be exploring every aspect of life from my perspective, including my healing journey, navigating the complexities of the industry, dealing with trauma, sexuality, spirituality, dating, social issues, success, individuality, family, music, and what it means to be a Black woman. I'll also dive into mental health, dreams, love, and much more. Join me. Let’s talk about it.
